Markley at the IMN 3rd Annual Spring Forum on Financing, Investing & Real Estate Development for Data Centers

This week, Markley Group’s own Director of Design and Construction, Chris McLean, will be presenting on a panel at the Information Management Network’s (IMN) 3rd Annual Spring Forum on Financing, Investing & Real Estate Development for Data Centers.
IMN is one of the leading global organizers of institutional finance & investment and healthcare IT conferences, and we try to soak up knowledge at as many of their gatherings as possible. This particular event is taking place this Thursday and Friday, May 30-31, 2013, in New York, and the agenda is covering a wide range of industry trends and popular themes, such as evaluating colocation players; scale vs. scalability vs. rightsizing; evaluating and standardizing data center performance metrics; and data center real estate queries. The agenda is chock full of intriguing presentations and panel discussions, such as “Macro Trends, The Economy & Their Data Center Impact,” “Services: Build vs. Buy vs. Acquire,” and “Totally Cool: All the Strategies; All the Costs; All the Return on Investments.”
Chris will be on a panel that is of interest to most data center and facility managers: “Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM): Man vs. Machine,” on Thursday, May 30, at 2:45 p.m. Chris will be joined by industry experts in what is sure to be an interesting discussion, including moderator Dan Bodenski, Director, Mission Critical Services, CRB; Adam Early, Vice President, Critical Systems & Engineering-Americas Corporate, Goldman, Sachs & Co.; and Jon Gould, Manager-Data Center Management Solutions, Schneider Electric.
During the session, the panel will highlight the definitions and costs of various DCIM options and the key decision points for managers to consider. The panelists will highlight numerous deployment realities, as well as discuss whether machine management is more cost efficient and debate how much downtime is actually caused by people. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of end to end DCIM coverage, regardless of whether they own a legacy or new building—and will have learned other best practices in this area as well.
