Celebrate Summer with Markley at the 2018 VTUG Summer Slam!

By Sage Allott | July 16, 2018

On July 19th, 2018, the Virtualization Technology User Group (VTUG) will host their annual event in Westbrook, Maine: the Summer Slam (Summah Slam, depending on who you ask). VTUG is a community of over 12,000 IT end-users, vendors, VARs and industry experts dedicated to creating and disseminating quality content, insights and innovations within the IT world. The group organizes events, including the Summer Slam, to bring members of the community together to learn about emerging trends in IT.

Attendees of this year’s Summer Slam can expect a day full of networking and learning, capped off with a night of drinks and fresh lobster at the award-winning Gritty’s Brew Pub. The event agenda includes three keynote speakers, covering hot topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, containers, networking and the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC). There will also be multiple breakout sessions throughout the day where representatives from various companies will deliver presentations on interesting and relevant IT topics.

This year, Markley is a VTUG sponsor and vendor at Summer Slam. Markley will have a fully-staffed booth ready to chat with attendees about all things IT. Stop by our booth or attend one of our breakout sessions to enter to win a Weekend Getaway in Boston, complete with Red Sox vs. Yankees tickets, dinner, and a luxurious stay in a Boston hotel (You too can enter to win here).

As noted, Markley has been selected to facilitate one of the event’s breakout sessions. Tim Sherbak, Markley’s head of cloud product management, will present “The Five Key Considerations in Extending your VMware Infrastructure into the Cloud,” including a discussion on the following key considerations and best practices in:

making ‘build or buy’ infrastructure and platform decisions,

assessing networking and infrastructure requirements,

understanding cloud security and designing solutions to fit your needs

planning, deploying, and validating robustness of “as-a-service” solutions

migrating workloads, and implementing backup, archiving, and disaster recovery services

As New England’s largest data center, telecom carrier hotel, and colocation facility trusted by some of the world’s largest companies, cloud service providers and research centers, Markley is excited to be apart of the 2018 Summer Slam. The event is free for all registered VTUG users.

Don’t miss out on a day full of learning, networking and fun! We hope to see you at the VTUG Summer Slam 2018!
