The State of the Hybrid Cloud, Summer 2017 Edition

By Morgan Woodruff | August 7, 2017

We were catching up on some summer beach reading this past week and saw that, with the first half of 2017 in the books, several outlets were looking at what's happened in the world of hybrid cloud thus far this year. Sure, your idea of beach reading may be a bit different than mine, but after all, I work at a cloud and data center provider.

Making it even easier to consume, over at ZDNet they posted an infographic that recapped some findings from TechPro Research and CBS Interactive about why IT managers are turning to the hybrid cloud - and what they expect from their implementations.

Some of the statistics were telling - and echo what we've been hearing from clients for a long time - they're turning to the hybrid cloud to save money and improve reliability/uptime - and to accomplish those goals quickly and easily.

Here's a few stats of note:

The number of companies considering a hybrid cloud solution has increased 5% since last year.

50% of companies are turning to the hybrid cloud for disaster recovery purposes.

44% are looking to avoid hardware costs and 40% have budgetary concerns about their on-premise set ups.

The top positive outcomes from hybrid cloud implementations are: reduced time to deployment (46%), reliability/availability (42%), cost (35%) and ease of use (31%).

At the same time, 29% reported that outages and poor service were a negative outcome of their switch.

Here at Markley, our cloud is constructed to eliminate interruption to critical business functions and provide seamless integration of your critical IT systems. In fact, we've never had an outage - and you're guaranteed 100% uptime when working with us.

Outages should never be something you experience as a part of your cloud implementation - and there's no excuse for dealing with poor service.

With our Backup-as-a-Service, Disaster Recover-as-a-Service and Storage-as-a-Service solutions, clients can deliver products and services to end-users through the cloud while still running back-end systems on dedicated colocation infrastructure. Our unified computing environment empowers clients to maximize efficiencies, better manage costs and improve capacity planning.
